About Generate

Our mission is to accelerate the large-scale deployment of mass timber buildings to combat the climate and housing crises.

Generate was founded in 2021 by a cross-disciplinary team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology seeking to create a new framework for better, more beautiful, cost-effective, and sustainable cities.

Today, Generate has a global team of architects, engineers, and computer scientists working to build the world’s fastest, friendliest, and most innovative mass timber design system ever invented. Generate believes that the digital transformation of the construction industry is critical to address the climate and housing crises.

Our goal, plain and simple, is to empower project teams to make buildings and cities more affordable and livable.

The Generate platform is a first-of-its-kind virtual environment, enabling teams to create full-fidelity mass timber design concepts within minutes. Generate gives project teams the tools to design in a code, cost, and carbon-aware space, allowing for more expressive, cost-effective, rapid iteration through an easy-to-use, superior design platform.

Generate is built to create, not constrain.

We aim to produce tools that enhance human creativity, while handling the repetitive, data-centric, and highly technical elements of design. We have partnered with hundreds of architects, engineers, developers, and builders worldwide, whose priorities function as the north star of our development roadmap.

Generate allows project teams to spend more time in the pursuit of design excellence, while enabling supply chain to significantly increase sustainable building production capacity.
